Come From Away is the Tony Award and Olivier Award-winning musical that tells the extraordinary true story of 7,000 airline passengers who found themselves unexpectedly grounded in the small town of Gander, Newfoundland, following the events of September 11, 2001. As the world grappled with uncertainty, the people of Gander responded with an outpouring of generosity, opening their homes and hearts to thousands of stranded travelers. Over the course of nearly a week, strangers became friends, cultures collided, and acts of kindness reminded the world of our shared humanity.
Written by the acclaimed husband-and-wife team Irene Sankoff and David Hein, Come From Away has become one of the most beloved musicals of the modern era. Filled with soaring Celtic-inspired folk music and powerful storytelling, the production celebrates resilience, compassion, and the enduring connections that can emerge in even the most difficult circumstances.
This special Muskoka production, taking place in December 2026, brings together three local arts organizations—Huntsville Theatre Company, Theatre Muskoka, and the Huntsville Festival of the Arts—to present this moving and uplifting theatrical experience.
Directed by Jocelyn Bell-Summersby, the production features a talented cast of local performers portraying multiple characters, seamlessly shifting between the perspectives of bewildered passengers and the welcoming residents of Gander. Through dynamic ensemble storytelling and unforgettable music, audiences will be transported to a moment in history that continues to inspire people around the world.
